China's embodied AI sector offers up to RMB 124 million salaries for scientists amid fierce talent war

China's embodied AI industry is engaged in an intense talent war, with UBTech publicly recruiting a global chief scientist in April 2026 at a total pay package of RMB 15 million to RMB 124 million, and Dreame's Magic Atom reportedly offering RMB 200 million for a chief scientist role. Data from Maimai and Liepin show embodied-AI job postings rose 15-fold (Jan-Apr) and humanoid robotics postings rose 147% (Jan-Jul) in 2026, with average monthly pay reaching RMB 62,000. Some startups are offering PhD interns up to RMB 100,000 per month under full-time-equivalent internship deals to secure talent early.
