Study finds AI negotiation advice steers women toward caregiving benefits over pay

An unpeer-reviewed study posted to arXiv on Oct. 1, 2026 analyzed 86,000 queries across four LLMs (GPT, Claude, Gemini, Llama), finding all models recommended higher salary targets for men than identical women, with gaps ranging from $1,594 (Llama 3.3 70B) to $15,915 (Claude Sonnet 4.6). In one GPT experiment, 80% of childcare support mentions targeted women. Researchers from Harvard Kennedy School and MIT Sloan warn of pay equity blind spots for employers.

Study finds only 1 in 4 CHROs equipped for AI-era 'enterprise CHRO' role

A new study by executive search firm Heidrick & Struggles finds CEOs now seek nearly twice as many skills in CHRO candidates as a decade ago, yet only one in four CHROs operate as a true 'enterprise CHRO' spanning AI, automation, CEO advising, ethics, succession and workforce planning. Fewer than 5% of sitting CHROs have strategy, product or engineering backgrounds. AI-native firms like OpenAI and Anthropic have appointed chief people officers from non-traditional HR backgrounds.
